Job Title: Teaching Artist 

Reports to: Director of Education and Artistic Programming

Shine Bright Performing Arts (SBPA) is a theatre company dedicated to enriching the lives of young people through the performing arts. Shine Bright produces youth productions, classes, and workshops, and is the sister company to Westrick Vocal Studio. Teaching Artists will plan and facilitate educational programming at SBPA. 

Responsibilities

  • Write and facilitate age and content appropriate lesson plans based curriculum provided and on Florida State Standards.

  • Collaborate with a co-teacher or assistant teacher on planning and execution of daily programming. 

  • Maintain a safe learning environment for students. 

  • Manage classroom behaviors and procedures. 

  • Implement Education Department and Shine Bright Performing Arts policies and procedures as established.

  • Upholding the Shine Bright mission statement: Inspire meaningful connection through the wonder of theatre arts.

  • Collect content for social media 

  • Other tasks may be assigned.


Salary and Hours

  • 1099 Contract Position on a weekly basis. Hours from 8:30am-2:45pm, with opportunity for extended day for an additional stipend. 

  • Weekly Contract Pay: 

    • Lead Teaching Artist: $750/week 

    • Assistant Teaching Artist: $400/week

  • The position is based at Shine Bright Performing Arts at 720 Crown Point Cross Road, Winter Garden, FL 34787.


Skills and Expectations

  • Demonstrated experience in teaching theatre arts to youth Grades 1-12.

  • Demonstrated theatre experience in acting, singing, dance, or other related experience. 

  • Ability to write and implement lesson plans based on assigned curriculum, and create a weekly sharing for students to perform for family and friends.

  • Excellent communication skills with students, parents, Shine Bright staff, and fellow teachers.

  • Ability to work both independently or as a part of a team when necessary. 

  • Ability to pass a background check.
